## How many carriers does Epic Life work with?

Epic Life Group has contracts with about 110 insurance carriers. That is the carrier access agents can draw on. Epic Life is an agency, not an insurer. The carriers issue the policies and pay the commissions.

Not every agent is contracted with every carrier, and not every carrier sells in every state. Your options depend on your licenses, contract level, and what each carrier allows.

## What carriers does training focus on?

Training concentrates on a core group so agents learn the carrier systems well. The focus carriers are:

Consumers can read our [coverage guides](https://epicline.preview.multisites.ai/life-insurance/final-expense). Agents selling IUL and annuities must not promise returns.

## Why does carrier choice matter?

Carriers differ in who they accept and what they charge. A client with a health condition may be declined by one carrier and approved by another. Price for the same client can differ by carrier. A client who lives in one state may not be able to buy a product that is sold in another.

An independent agent can compare. That is the main value to clients. It is also a reason Epic Life says it is not captive. Read [captive vs independent agent](https://epicline.preview.multisites.ai/guides/captive-vs-independent-agent) for the trade-offs. Epic Life’s comparative quoting tool supports this on the call. See [technology](https://epicline.preview.multisites.ai/careers/technology).

## How do contracts and contract levels work?

A producer license lets you sell insurance in a state. The NAIC model act says the license does not by itself give you authority to represent a carrier. You also need an appointment from each carrier. Epic Life’s back office includes contracting support.

Your contract level with each carrier affects your commission rate. Levels depend on the carrier and the agreement. Do not assume a rate before you see your contract. See [compensation](https://epicline.preview.multisites.ai/careers/compensation) and the glossary entry for [contract level](https://epicline.preview.multisites.ai/glossary/contract-level).

## How do I choose which carriers to learn first?

Start with the focus carriers. Learn how each one underwrites, what health conditions it accepts, and how its application works. Then add carriers that fill gaps, such as clients with serious health issues or those outside the usual age range.

Epic Life also offers help with hard-to-place cases, case design, and product illustrations through its licensed service team. Read [training](https://epicline.preview.multisites.ai/careers/training).

## What mistakes do agents make when choosing carriers?

- Always using the one carrier they know best, even when another fits better.
- Skipping the underwriting guide and quoting a client who will be declined.
- Chasing the highest commission instead of the product the client can keep paying for.
- Ignoring state availability until the application is rejected.
- Forgetting that a lapse leads to a chargeback.

The fix is simple. Learn the focus carriers, read each underwriting guide, and use the quoting tool to compare. A better fit means a policy that stays in force, which protects the client and your pay.

## How do I know a carrier fits a client?

Match three things: the client’s health, age, and state; the budget; and the goal. Start with the goal, such as covering funeral costs or paying a mortgage. Then check which carriers accept the client’s health history. Then compare price and benefit terms.

Write down why you picked the carrier. If a client or regulator asks later, you can explain the reasoning. This habit also helps you learn which carriers accept which health conditions, which saves time on future calls.

## What should I ask about carriers before I join?

- Which carriers will I be contracted with on day one?
- What is my contract level with each?
- Which products are open in my licensed states?
- How long does contracting take?
- When and how are commissions paid out?

## Frequently asked questions

### How many carriers does Epic Life work with?

Epic Life states it has contracts with about 110 carriers. Not every carrier sells every product in every state, and not every agent is contracted with every carrier. Ask about the carriers and contract levels available to you in your licensed states.

### Which carriers does Epic Life focus on?

Training focuses on Aflac, American Amicable, AIG / Corebridge Financial, American Home Life, Ameritas, F&G, Mutual of Omaha, Royal Neighbors of America, and Transamerica. The current site also shows Lincoln Financial, National Life Group, Baltimore Life, and United Home Life among other carrier logos.

### Why does carrier choice matter for clients?

Each carrier sets its own age limits, health questions, price, and state availability. A client turned down by one carrier may qualify at another. An independent agent can compare options. A captive agent can offer only one company's products.

### Is Epic Life an insurance company?

No. Epic Life Group is an independent life insurance agency. Carriers issue the policies. It is not the same company as EPIC Life Insurance Company of Wisconsin or EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants. Always check which company issues a policy.

### What is a carrier appointment?

An appointment, also called contracting, is a carrier's approval for you to sell its products. A state license alone does not authorize you to represent a carrier. Epic Life's back office helps agents with contracting. Contract level affects your commission.

### Can I sell all products for every carrier?

Not necessarily. Carriers decide which products and states each agent may sell, and products differ by state. You also need the right license for the product. Ask for the list of carriers and products available to you before you commit.
