# No-Exam Life Insurance

No-exam life insurance is coverage issued without a medical exam. Types include simplified issue, guaranteed issue, and some accelerated underwriting programs. Each uses a different method to judge risk.

## Why it matters

No-exam does not mean no underwriting. Carriers may still use a health questionnaire, prescription history, MIB records, and motor vehicle records. Rates can be higher than exam-based coverage for healthy people, and coverage limits are often lower. Speed is the main benefit, as coverage can be approved in days. Buyers should compare the price of a no-exam policy with an exam-based quote. Eligibility, limits, and prices vary by carrier and state.
