Upline

An upline is the agent, agency, or organization above another agent in the contracting hierarchy. The upline often provides training, contracts, and support, and may earn an override.

Why it matters

Agents choose an upline for carrier access, contract level, leads, and help with tough cases. The upline may also pay commissions or pass them through. Ask how fast releases happen, since a release lets an agent move on. Check how chargebacks are handled between the two parties. A good upline answers questions fast and is open about how pay flows down the chain.
