Field Marketing Organization (FMO)

An FMO, or field marketing organization, is a company that works with carriers to build and support a network of agents. Term use varies, and many people treat it close to IMO or MGA.

Why it matters

Industry use of IMO, FMO, MGA, and NMO is not strict. An FMO often leans toward field support such as recruiting, training, and sales help in a region. Ask any organization what it does, which carriers it holds, and how agents are paid. Do not rely on the acronym alone.
