Health Questions (Knock-Out Questions)

Health questions are the application questions a carrier asks about medical history. Knock-out questions are the ones where a yes answer makes the applicant ineligible for that plan.

Why it matters

Simplified issue and final expense plans rely on them in place of exams. Typical topics include recent hospital stays, cancer, heart conditions, and use of oxygen. Answer exactly as asked. If one answer disqualifies you, another carrier or a guaranteed issue plan may still be available. Wording varies by carrier.
