Paramedical Exam

A paramedical exam is a brief health check done by a nurse or technician, often at your home or work, for a life insurance application. It usually includes height, weight, blood pressure, and blood and urine samples.

Why it matters

The results help the carrier set your class and price. Many exams take 20 to 30 minutes and cost the applicant nothing, since the carrier pays. Tips include fasting if told, staying hydrated, and avoiding hard exercise or alcohol beforehand. No-exam products skip it, often at a higher price or lower limit.
