Why it matters
Carriers use their own tests for blood pressure, cholesterol, build, and family history. Moving from standard to preferred can lower the premium noticeably over a long term. Not every carrier uses the same name or number of classes. Compare quotes, and note that tobacco use usually removes preferred eligibility. A small change in one test can move you into or out of the class.
