Agent licensing and appointments

Continuing Education (CE)

Continuing education, or CE, is required coursework that licensed agents complete each renewal period to keep their licenses. Hours and topics are set by each state.

Why it matters

Many states require a set number of hours every one or two years, often including ethics. Only state-approved courses count. Agents track completion in their own records and the provider often reports it to the state. Missing CE can block renewal. Nonresident agents may be able to meet their home state's rules, though some states differ.
