Sales and lead terms

Exclusive Lead

An exclusive lead is a prospect record sold to only one agent or agency. Because no one else gets the same contact, it usually costs more than a shared lead.

Why it matters

Exclusive leads reduce competition, since the prospect is not called by several agents at once. That can improve trust and results, but price and quality still vary by vendor. Agents should ask how the lead was generated and what the person agreed to. Federal consent rules require that the consumer's agreement be clear and tied to the seller. Families who fill out online forms may still get calls from more than one company, depending on what the form says.
