Sales and lead terms

Fresh Lead

A fresh lead is a prospect record that was generated very recently, often within minutes or hours, and has not been worked yet. Fresh leads usually cost more and convert better than aged leads.

Why it matters

Speed to contact is the main factor for fresh leads. A person who just filled out a form is still thinking about coverage, so a fast call can help. Vendors define how fresh a lead must be, and definitions differ. Fresh leads can be exclusive or shared. Agents should check that consent covers the call, and that the number is not blocked. Lead cost and results vary, so tracking the cost per policy is a smart habit.
