Outbound Call

An outbound call is a call that a business or agent places to a consumer. In insurance, outbound calling is limited by federal and state telemarketing rules, including Do Not Call lists and consent requirements.

Why it matters

Outbound calls carry more legal risk than inbound calls. Before dialing, an agent must check the National Do Not Call Registry, the internal DNC list, and any consent records. State rules can add calling hour limits and licensing steps. For families, an outbound call about insurance should come from a licensed agent who gives a name and company at the start. You can ask to be placed on the company's do-not-call list at any time.
