Submission

A submission is the act of sending a completed insurance application to the carrier for review. After submission, underwriting reviews it and the carrier decides to issue, decline, or ask for more information.

Why it matters

Agents want clean submissions, with all questions answered and signatures complete, because errors cause delays. Some carriers return a decision at once, while others take days. A submitted case is not a sale until the policy is issued and the first premium is paid. Commission rules differ by carrier. Families should keep copies of what they signed and confirm the planned payment date.
