Sales and lead terms

Warm Lead

A warm lead is a prospect who has shown some interest or has an existing relationship with the seller, such as by filling out a form or replying to a mailer. A warm lead is more receptive than a cold contact.

Why it matters

Warm leads convert better than cold contacts because the person already took a step toward coverage. Still, interest in a form does not always equal consent to be called. Agents should check what the person agreed to, and whether the number is on a Do Not Call list. An established business relationship can allow some calls under federal rules, but the time limits are short. Rules differ by state, so agents follow their agency's compliance guidance.
