Voice Signature

A voice signature is a recorded spoken agreement that a carrier accepts in place of a written signature. Federal law lets an electronic signature include a sound, if the signer intends to sign.

Why it matters

Voice signatures help complete applications by phone when a person cannot easily sign electronically. The carrier sets the exact script and recording rules, and many require the applicant to confirm identity and consent. Not every carrier or product accepts them, and state rules differ. Families should listen to what they are agreeing to and ask for a copy of the application. Agents must follow the carrier's process exactly to avoid delays or rejection.
